I make my living teaching a variety of high-tech subjects, but my undergraduate degree is in history, and history remains an avocation. I have diverse and widely varied interests and opinions, and the subjects I write about are a bit random. But if there is any theme which ties all of this together, it is perhaps Professor William Slottman’s view that we study history to learn compassion.

This is nicely done. Thank you. George
Thank you so much for doing this Jamie. Love reading about what happened and why – never enjoyed history so much!
You are both most welcome!
And always remember: what happened is often subject to change as new discoveries come to light, and WHY it happened is always debatable 🙂 So these are my opinions; your mileage may vary …

I just discovered this blog. Quite fascinating, although I was a bit disappointed at the lack of entries proclaiming that “nothing happened today.”
Thank you. This is VERY much appreciated!
Teaches me a LOT.
It’s very interesting and entertaining.
Great blog …. would like to start receiving by email daily if possible!
great job. You write so well and definitely your history makes for great interest ( and compassion)!
Thank you most kindly!
